Dan Rather’s Epitath

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

“I think you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things.” - Dan Rather

It’s a pretty good bet he’s the one that came up with “fake, but accurate.”

Good f’n riddance.

“And then they came for…”

But BUSH is the real problem, not the guy developing nuclear weapons, declaring Israel should be wiped off the map, or slapping color-coded badges on people to identify the non-believers by their religious affiliation. I mean, like that would EVER happen, right?

It is never going to be the right time to take this lunatic out which is precisely why it must be done now - or do we wait until they start opening up concentration camps and gassing people?

**UPDATE**

Well, maybe not such a factual report.

**UPDATE**

Nope, true.

Tom DeLay is an Idiot

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

Idiotic statement of the day:

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said yesterday that Republicans have done so well in cutting spending that he declared an “ongoing victory,” and said there is simply no fat left to cut in the federal budget.

That reminds me of Saddam claiming victory after the first Gulf War. Fiscal conservative my ass.

Further Proof Sheehan Unhinged

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Drudge is running this now:

Sheehan unleashed a foul-mouth tirade on April 27, 2005:

“They’re a bunch of fucking hypocrites! And we need to, we just need to rise up…” Sheehan said of the Bush administration.

“If George Bush believes his rhetoric and his bullshit, that this is a war for freedom and democracy, that he is spreading freedom and democracy, does he think every person he kills makes Iraq more free?”

“The whole world is damaged. Our humanity is damaged. If he thinks that it’s so important for Iraq to have a U.S.-imposed sense of freedom and democracy, then he needs to sign up his two little party-animal girls. They need to go to this war.”

Lest Don call Drudge a liar and me one for posting it, here is the transcript of that event.

I don’t think Drudge quoted the most telling part. Take a look at this little screed:

I take responsibility partly for my son’s death, too. I was raised in a country by a public school system that taught us that America was good, that America was just. America has been killing people, like my sister over here says, since we first stepped on this continent, we have been responsible for death and destruction. I passed on that bullshit to my son and my son enlisted. I’m going all over the country telling moms: “This country is not worth dying for. If we’re attacked, we would all go out. We’d all take whatever we had. I’d take my rolling pin and I’d beat the attackers over the head with it. But we were not attacked by Iraq. {applause} We might not even have been attacked by Osama bin Laden if {applause}. 9/11 was their Pearl Harbor to get their neo-con agenda through and, if I would have known that before my son was killed, I would have taken him to Canada. I would never have let him go and try and defend this morally repugnant system we have. The people are good, the system is morally repugnant. {applause} (emphasis mine)

Cindy Sheehan is an anti-war activist using her dead, heroic son as a prop in her own private little war and now she is being exposed for what she is. The woman is unhinged and I am becoming more convinced she was that way before her son was killed. The woman is completely nuts.

So I guess I definitely won’t be flying Northwest again.

The left has lost it

Monday, February 14th, 2005

This Jeff Gannon thing, and the left-blogs’ reaction to it, is shaping up to be very much like a car accident. I want to turn away, but I just can’t help myself.

Yes I know, you probably have no idea who the hell Jeff Gannon is. Well, our friends on the left have been spending an awful lot of time getting to know him and this is what they have come up with:

1. He was a conservative reporter in the White House press room - GASP!
2. He published his stories for a conservative media outlet - GASP!
3. He published using a pseudonym - GASP!
4. He *may* be gay - GASP!
5. He *may* have registered some domain names for clients that sounded gay - GASP!

It all sounds very nefarious and salacious, doesn’t it?

**YAWN**

So why do they have themselves all in a lather over this guy? Ace says it best:

I’m just sort of giggling about the fact that the unhinged left — so desperate for any victory at all — are now crowing about the fact they “took out” an unknown internet reporter.

Yes, that was quite a coup guys. But the saddest part of this whole thing isn’t that they are taking down an “unknown” internet reporter, it’s that the only weapon they have is his personal life.

They intend on making some big story out of this whole thing (which remains to be seen at this point) because of this guy’s sexuality.

Does it strike anybody odd that the Democrats would be attacking someone because their sexuality leaves them vulnerable to attack? Oh, wait, I forgot. “Jeff Gannon” is a conservative Republican, so it is ok. How silly of me to forget that. Do as I say, not as I do, right guys? I mean, Colin “Uncle Tom” Powell and Condi “Aunt Jemima” Rice got the same type of hypocritical treatment so I suppose I should not be at all surprised.

** UPDATE I**

Not that anyone on the left cares about anything that would derail them from their witch hunt, but in an interview published today, “Gannon” answers the charges being made by the left-wing blogs ( h/t: Protein Wisdom).

**UPDATE II**

Gannon explains the name thing:

“I was projecting out into the future at that time that I was going to be a journalist,” he said. “I wanted to have a better name that is not difficult to spell or pronounce. For a little while, it protected my family from people who disagreed with me going after my family, but that was just a side consideration. I really wanted an easier name because people have gotten it wrong all of my life.”

Well, I, Robert SHURBET (a.k.a. SHERBET, SCHUBERT, SHOIBERT, SHERBOT, SHERBEIT), can’t relate to that at ALL, can I.

**UPDATE III**

Just how low is this entire Gannon thing getting on the lefty blogs? Just read the comments.

in response to a comment by “Proud Freeper”:

I swear… “Proud Freeper” is sounding more and more like Guckert… Corporal, cornholes dog, doen’t like p***y. Drives SUV…

C’mon Proud Freeper… Just what does Ken Mehlman TASTE like?

Classy.

**UPDATE IV**

Well, they have [ed.note: link removed because I refuse to up the page ranking for crap like this] gone over the deep end for sure now. Even if all that is true, which so far they haven’t proven (all they have is a gay escort named bulldog that apparently got around), do these people honestly think that people in the White House knew about Gannon’s extracurricular activities? WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING IMPORTANT?? The only people that care about Jeff Gannon’s sexual proclivities are the DEMOCRATS pursuing them! All for what? So they can destroy someone they don’t agree with? They have the audacity to claim they are fighting hypocrisy?? To accuse Repiblicans of HATE MONGERING?? Give me a break.

This is about one thing for these people - they got slammed on national television and they’re behaving like children about it. Pure and simple.

“How are you going to work with people who seem to have divorced themselves from reality?”

It was a valid question then, and it is now - and these people have just proven how far divorced from reality they really are.

**UPDATE V**

Now these disgusting excuses for human beings have taken to throwing around allegations about WH Press Secretary Scott McClellan being gay - just throwing shit hoping it will stick somwhere. No proof, unnamed sources, no corroborating evidence WHATSOEVER. The depths to which these people will go to is simply unbelievable.

**UPDATE VI**

FINALLY! A sensible voice from the left that condemns this digusting excuse for “journalism”.

What a lovely glass house you have

Saturday, February 12th, 2005

While the left side of the blogosphere bemoans Jeff Gannon, they seem to be unphased by Russell Mokhiber, reporter for Ralph Nader’s Corporate Crimes Reporter. Mr. Mokhiber is a recipient of the very same daily press pass issued to “Jeff Gannon”. And while Mr. Mokhiber doesn’t go by a pseudonym, he does ask pointedly biased questions, just like most of the reporters in that room.

Some of Mr. Mokhiber’s greatest hits?

02/01/05: Scott, does the President believe in Commandment Number Six - thou shalt not kill - as it applies to the U.S. invasion of Iraq?…

12/06/04: Scott, on the Middle East - many evangelical Christians in the United States are supporting right-wing Jews in Israel who want to rebuild the temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem…

12/03/04: Scott, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday that the Pentagon deliberately misled CNN about the invasion of Fallujah…

11/17/04: Scott, has the White House counsel looked at the President’s legal exposure to a war crimes prosecution?…

If the left is going to go into hysterics because a conservative reporter had the gall to ask how the President was going to get his agenda past a suicidal Democratic party, something that is quickly becoming how Democrats are viewed by the public at large, then obviously they are willing to hold ALL the White House reporters to the same standards, right? Yeah, right.

For the record, I have no issue with Mr. Mokhiber or his questions. I think Scot McClellan said it best:

He, like anyone else, showed that he was representing a news organization that published regularly, and so he was cleared two years ago to receive daily passes, just like many others are. The issue comes up — it becomes, in this day and age, when you have a changing media, it’s not an easy issue to decide or try to pick and choose who is a journalist. And there — it gets into the issue of advocacy journalism. Where do you draw the line? There are a number of people who cross that line in the briefing room.

Glass houses, stones, and all that.

A whale of a tale
