Step away from the ledge….

Monday, October 20th, 2008

A week ago I was prepared to hunker down and weather the first four years of America’s downward spiral into a fascist-socialist state.

Today? Yeah, not so much. Someone tell the fat lady her performance might have to be canceled.

It has happened before….

Who’s Your Pick?

Friday, October 28th, 2005

You already know who I am rooting for. (left side-bar). Seems I am not at all alone given that JRB is smoking past the entire pack at 51%.

From :

Ironically, the President this next time needs to nominate a divisive figure: someone, that is, who is drawing fire from the right quarters.

Or actually the Left quarters.

Someone whose name is not anywhere near Harry Reid’s short list.

Someone like Judge Janice Rogers Brown. People for the American Way hate her. Need I say more? This would be what someone referred to as a “bench-clearing fight.” Bring it on.

Clear that bench. Bring it on, indeed.

To Out or Not To Out?

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

The Malcontent has some very good commentary on Mike Rogers’ claiming vindication in his gay outing campaign because an online poll (of all things)! Nevermind the thing is likely stacked with the trolls from his comments section. The fact is, most straight Americans would likely find his actions reprehensible.

How about we balance the scales a bit.

Welcome News

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

I have to say I am heartened by the results of this survey regarding the upcoming special election here in California next month. To hear the local media tell it, Arnold is in a ditch and isn’t getting out and the negative ads being run by the teachers’ unions are getting down-right nasty. From GOPBloggers:

Prop. 73 (parental notification prior to abortion for minors): 59% Yes 39% No

Prop. 74 (extend teacher probationary period from 2 to 5 years): 55% Yes 44% No

Prop. 75 (”paycheck protection” - require written consent from union members to use dues for political activity): 60% Yes 37% No

Prop. 76 (limit state spending growth): 58% Yes 36% No

Prop. 77 (eliminate gerrymandering by having retired judges to draw districts instead of Legislature): 59% Yes 36% No

I am voting YES on all of these.

Arnold is doing exactly what I expected him to do when I cast my vote for him and I can tell it is working - the liberals are howling something fierce.

Yeah, Not So Much

At least that appears to be the response by most people when asked by if they have a favorable opinion of Cindy Sheehan.

Bottom line: just another miss by the left in their struggle to turn Iraq into another Vietnam. This whole thing is getting really pathetic.

Given the battle shaping up over Social Security, the new poll asks the question, “Do you support the concept of using some portion of your Social Security taxes to fund a Private Retirement Account that you control?”

After everything George W. Bush has endured over the last 4 years, from the debacle during the last election in Florida, to 9/11. After Iraq and “Bush Lied!”, “HALIBURTON!” and “BABY KILLER!” After being smeared by Dan Rather & Mary Mapes, George Sorros & his 527 minions. After receiving the worst media election coverage of any candidate for President in history and having to watch his opponent be given the best media coverage of any candidate for President in history. After Michael Moore and Fahrenheit 9-11.

After having to carry the weight of the hardest decision a President will ever make, sending boys and girls and men and women to fight for their country with the knowledge that some will surely die.

After enduring all of that and oh, so much more, the Democrats are pissy about the size and expense of the inaugural, which is financed through private donations.

If you ask me, I’d say he f*ing earned a party.

cry babies

Get over it you bunch of crybabies.

Are We Alone?

Saturday, January 15th, 2005

With all this space activity in the last year (Spirit & Opportunity on Mars, Cassini to Saturn and now the Huygens probe on Saturn’s moon Titan) plus the premiere last night of the new Battlestar Gallactica on the Sci-Fi Channel (which is phenomenally outstanding, btw), I got to thinking some more about whether we are alone in this universe or not. I have always been into sci-fi (yes, in the really geeky way) and I have always believed that we are not alone. It seems inconceivable to me that all this space is meant for just us.

So what do you think? Do you believe we are the only intelligent life in the universe? Let me know what you think via the new poll on the left side-bar.

My feeling is that most people come to the same conclusion I do - but I could be wrong.

Here are the results thus far:

I personally thought Falafel Queen would be in the lead. If you haven’t already done so, vote!

New Poll

Friday, December 10th, 2004

We’ll run this poll (on the right sidebar) until CBS releases the report on the Rathergate scandal and we know the fate of one Mary Mapes. Poll suggestions after that are welcome!

** Update**

Well, lgf has some info that means the poll may be up for awhile if the info is accurate.
