If McCain/Palin wins this election, Sarah Palin will be the first female president of this country.
So on this extended break, a lot has gone on. Aside of the day-to-day stuff, Greg and I rescued another Border Collie, Joey. Although we didn’t know it until a few days after we got him, he was pretty much at death’s door with a raging bladder infection and a bladder stone the size of a lemon. Instead of putting him down, which would have just broken our hearts, we coughed up the $2300 and he had surgery to have it removed. The result? See the happy dog below! We can’t imagine ever being without him. He is the laziest but most loving dog I have ever met.
As Greg says, “he’s just happy to be here.”
The second big development - we bought a house, and yes, we bought it in California! We had to move from the peninsula out to Cocord on the other side of the east bay mountains, but we managed to get a bank-owned for less than $375K.
We are still adjusting to the idea that we actually own a home here, but the house has great bones and Greg and I have many years of updating to keep us occupied.

The new house, in all its over-grown glory. The house has been vacant for about 2 1/2 years. It was built in ‘52 and, although someone purchased it last July (and never made a mortgage payment), we are the only other people to actually live in it aside from the original owners.
Lots of work to do, but we’re happy to be finally be building some equity and no longer renting.
