Note The Time

March 30th, 2005

I just got a call. I did a reverse lookup and the number was a cell based out of Glendale California. I didn’t answer and they didn’t leave a message. I decided to give them a ring back to see who it was and what they wanted.

The guy on the other end claimed to be in Germany and “really wanted to get back at this guy,” referring to Rogers. In fact, he repeated how badly he wanted to get back at Rogers several times, which made me more than a little suspicious. This person went so far as to ask if something happened to Rogers’ email and blog, if he was “smart enough” to figure it out. After assuring him Rogers (and Avarosis for that matter) have the resources to not only figure it out but also figure out who did it, I then I flat out said I would not approve of such an action and advised this person not to do anything stupid. In fact, I kept having to say that because he kept saying how much he wanted to get back at him. The whole thing was really creepy.

I don’t know if this guy was serious or was just trying to bait me into endorsing some kind of illegal action against Rogers, but bottom line is this: Do not do anything stupid folks. Rogers is simply not worth it. Do you want to go to jail while Rogers sits there laughing his pathetic ass off?

Keep it safe, non-violent, and legal. It’s better for you, it’s better for us, it’s better for free speech.

Technorati searches on Mike Rogers is just finding blogs covering this story. Searches on Bruce Carroll is finding only the Blade coverage that outs GayPatriot as Bruce Carroll and my blog commenting on this story.

That is likely due to the fact the people with a sense of decency have decided not to add insult to injury by repeating it. Some may say the damage is done. I am not repeating it out of respect regardess. That is the supportive thing to do, don’t you agree?

It’s been covered in the Blade and confirmed. It’s a bit artificial to pretend that GayPatriot is annonymous. He no longer is that. Once Joe Kline was identified as the author of Primary Colors, people didn’t pretend that he didn’t author that book.

I was actually disappointed with all this. I was hoping to figure out who GP was through my own sleuthing. Instead, Mike Rogers identified him taking away my fun.

Rogers is simply not worth it.

Nor is he, really, the issue — he just happens to have put his face on it with his tactics.

Bait or not, you’re definitely doing the right thing by discouraging anything of the sort.

I think your interest in this whole thing, Eva, became quite clear with that comment.

Just to make clear, Robert – it wasn’t because I wanted to “out” GP. I just wanted to figure out who he was without being told. I was able to quickly figure out who GPWest was – because I knew him through the Log Cabin chat list years back. I’ve even had lunch with GPWest when I was in California for business.

I’ve been going along the same lines, Robert — even though the story in the Blade exists, I have not received specific permission from GayPatriot to make his name public yet — so I’ve avoided referring to it directly on my blog (which is annoying as hell).

And Eva, you can try to figure out who I am, if you need a semi-challenge….(wink)

There’s alot of life’s little mysteries. Just got back from New Orleans for the Log Cabin Republicans convention – which was lots of fun. Never been to the Big Easy before, so I had a wonderful time walking around the French Quarter.
