“Gay Terrorists”

March 25th, 2005

Earlier today GayPatriot made a post titled “Gay Terrorists” (or something similar – I do not remember the exact title) where he equated John Avarosis (of “I outed Jeff Gannon” fame) and Michael Rogers of Blogactive with terrorists for their systematic campaign to out gay conservatives. The post also included photos of the two men.

However, something very mysterious has happened. The post has disappeared and there is now this note from GayPatriot on the blog.

For personal and professional reasons that I am unable to fully discuss, I have to stop blogging as GayPatriot effective immediately. This has been a great experience for me and I have learned a lot. And I have met a lot of good people along the way (if only through email). As of this moment, I am no longer affiliated with this blog and I turn over all control to GayPatriotWest who will keep the fires going. Thank you for letting me come into your homes since last September. It has been an honor.

Now, I wonder, is someone threatening GayPatriot with some kind of action for his posting? Did Avarosis and/or Rogers sic their lawyers on GayPatriot? Did they threaten to out him publicly?

The disappearance of the original post and this sudden retirement smell fishy to me.

**UPDATE** 3/25/05 5:39 PM

Well, it would appear as though someone got their panties in a twist because the post was calling for action against the two afore mentioned individuals. Some folks took it as a call for violence (which I don’t believe it was). The blog has not been updated with this note.

In the interest of constructive political discourse and open and free discussion, GayPatriot.org and those responsible for its content always urge its readers to practice non-violence in their daily lives and political activities.

No posting on this site shall be construed as advocating for violence against anyone or any organization.

I love peace.

I think I would have told the blockheads that took it the wrong way to kiss my ass.

I found your site through your comment on GayPatriot. I too wrote earlier in the day about GayPatriot’s “gay terrorist” post. Like you, I hope that this wasn’t the cause of his departure from the blogosphere. I thought he was way off base and took him to task over it but certainly didn’t want him to quit as I was an avid reader. I also don’t think he was threatened with a personal outing as he is pretty out already.

Well, where there is smoke, there is usually fire. It all seems way to coincidental to me. Hopefully it is nothing nefarious.

I think not… his new post offers some light. I think some mistook his post for a call for violent action. It was a call for action but I don’t think violence was ever his intent.

That’s sad that ANY site has to close for that reason. I read GP before, and I have a hard time believing that anyone in the group would really want violent action against the two.

It’s sad to see another blogger go like that- and what’s worse, another gay conservative blogger. I believe that they are truly precious in the sense that they are very hard to find. The loony left is working at convincing many homosexuals that the all conservatives hate them and condemn them all to hell.

All of the gays I know are liberals! It would be nice to meet a conservative one someday. And yet another reason you gotta love Lime Shurbet! ;)

I’m digressing so bad that it isn’t even funny.

But anyway. ‘Tis sad. Having to say that you don’t advocate violence is pretty sad- where would anyone get an idea that GP would advocate anything like that? Or any clear-minded blog, for that matter?

Keep digging. There is a story here. That’s all I can say for now. But you are right to make the connections you have been so far….

Thanks for the kind words Lorraine. I don’t know exactly what is going on here, but next week is going to be interesting. I fully intend to continue asking questions – starting with the two subjects of the post GP made.

in the meantime, I know it is a long-shot, but if anyone has a copy of the original post by GP, please email it to me. rds@hotmail.com.

Finding out your number is easy. You entered it into the database when you signed up on the web. you can see your post here. http://www.whois.sc/limeshurbet.com

Great items, but your banner ad is over the top. It might motivate someone to take more violent action than you hope for. If your website motivated someone’s murder, would it be a good thing for you?

  8. March 28th, 2005 at 21:12 | #8

Of course it would not be a good thing for me or anyone else – thus the call to keep peaceful discourse in mind.

Interesting concept, but as I undertstand it, you were provided notice that your graphic is constued by many as a call to violence, exactly the same as the site was held responsible for Slepian’s murder. You claim you want peaceful discourse, your actions prove otherwise.

Really? I was provided notice? By whom? As for whether I want peaceful discourse, I could not have been any clearer in the post AND in the graphic – the graphic specifically says to email Rogers. I do not call for or endorse any other action than emaling Rogers to voice displeasure.

By the way, “Anonymous”, by your logic the following websites and their proprietors are guily of calling for the death of the President of the United Stated , amongst others – a crime, I “felony.”

Take your pick. But if you are going to accuse me of advocating violence, which I clearly do not, then you are also accusing those that run the sites I listed.
