I saw that - and not very far off the mark. And I say let them run with it. They can scream and spin all they want to but it comes down to them having to define to the satisfaction of the American people "extraordinary circumstances." That is the beauty of this deal.

Of course, I can't discount the fact that the MSM will do its own spinning for them when the time comes. But the public trust in the media is so incredibly low and the Democrats' arguments so incredibly weak, most reasonable people will conclude they are all full of it - and the whole time Frist and the Republicans will be able to say, "see, we told you - all they want to do is obstruct." And that is exactly what it will look like.

Perception is reality. The Republicans, I believe, have won the perception game this time.

It also has the added benefit of showing people the Democrats were just spewing rhetoric. After all the smearing they did of Owen, they let her be confirmed - and will let other "unacceptable extremists" be confirmed. I don't know about most people, but that says to me, "we didn't really believe what we were saying." That won't sit well with a lot of centrist voters that look for courage of conviction in their elected officials.

Glad you agree. The Republicans have lost nothing, the Democrats are giving votes on 3 nominees and now have to justify any future filibuster as extraordinary. And if they abuse it, it's "nuclear" showdown all over again. Democrats are trying to spin this as a win, when really, it's just a controlled loss.
