How It Started And Thank You

For those of you that are not fully aware how this whole thing with Rogers got started, you can check out Christian Grantham’s original article and his post this morning after learning my site was shut down.

Also be sure to check out Mark’s post over @ Tempus Fugit that recaps all that including today’s events. Mark - thank you for devoting so much of your time today to this issue.

I cannot thank these two gentlemen enough for their support and their willingness to highlight Michael Rogers and the terrorist tactics he employees in an attempt to silence those that would take him to task for his digusting campaign of outing gay Americans.

I would also like to thank Rob @ Say Anything for picking up the story as well, Misha @ The Anti-Idiotarian Rotweiller for being the first to put up the “Wanted” parody and everyone else that has emailed me today or left a comment on the blog. There are several people that have emailed me to tell me they have also put up the banner. I plan on harvesting that info from my email and comments and publicizing those blogs as well so please bear with me as the dust settles.

The support has been overwhelming and I wish I could thank you each and every one of you personally.

And to Greg, thank you for your unconditional and unwavering support in everything I do.

Today was a good day. But there is still one of us down. Be sure to stop by GayPatriot and make your support for his return to blogging known and show your support for Dan (aka GayPatriotWest).

If the guys @ GayPatriot want to move to Hosting Matters, I will pay for one year of hosting service for them and I will do the migration myself free of charge. Your voice deserves to be heard GP.

Well Done Lime! Don’t let this fanatic win.

The man is a coward, he hides behind a WHOIS search sheild.

He is also trampling all over the first amendment.

Don’t let that fanatic stop you, he is a menace to decent people everywhere.

At this point, since the story is all out, GayPatriot is making his own decisions whether to blog or not. If Rogers did what GP said he did, GP actually could get a restraining order against Rogers.

That’s what I’d do, if I were in GP’s place.

I was under the impression Rogers had threatened a national boycott against GP’s employer. If that is the case, then I don’t think the claim can be made that GP is not making those decisions under threat. Now, if Rogers decides to retract that threat, then I think you might have an argument. I think the last 24 hours could go a long way toward demonstrating to a court that Rogers is harassing his critics.

You’re a credit to the blogosphere, Robert. I feel like there should be some kind of blogger defense fund for when a bully like this tries this kind of harrassment and intimidation. I’d certainly be willing to contribute.

Most of us bloggers would never think of trying to run a blogger off the net like this. I mean, I’ll do everything I can to expose the faulty logic or false information of a blogger with whom I disagree to try to persuade blog readers to read and trust my blog over so and so’s . . . but to try to deny them their right to speak–NEVER.

My question is: how many people would really follow a boycott led by this bully? Certainly no conservative would participate and how many gay people would follow a boycott of a company that stands by its GAY employee?

Robert Says:

Thank you for the kind words.

Seriously, I doubt many would actually participate in a boycott called for by people I consider to be the equivilant of the inmates at the Democratic Undergound. No organization with any self-respect is going to get behind someone like Rogers, especially given the controversial nature of the material. Without backing by influential organizations (and I mean real backing, with $$ and a considerable audience), a boycott would not scare anyone and could not be sustained. And you are right to point out, any company that would stand by their gay employee is not a boycott target in my book.

In fact, that could actually be quite good for business :-). From what I have been able to gather in my short exposure to Rogers, I believe his credibility is completely shot.

Rogers makes me ashamed to be gay.

Robert Says:

Don’t you dare let someone like Rogers make you ashamed to be gay. Don’t you let ANYONE do that to you. Be proud of who you are and be proud that you are not like him.

I’m glad to shine some light on his extreme, thuggish tactics…
